1. Introduction
ChikaD ("the App") is a peer-to-peer video calling application. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account Data (Pro Users Only)
- Username and password (password is stored securely using bcrypt hashing)
- Subscription status and billing identifiers (Stripe customer ID, Apple In-App Purchase transaction ID)
2.2 Call & Room Data
- Room name and password are hashed (SHA-256) before being stored — we cannot see the original values
- Room metadata: participant count, creation time, last activity time
- Short invitation links (auto-deleted after 24 hours)
2.3 Push Notifications (iOS)
- If you enable push notifications, we store your device token to deliver notifications when someone joins your room
- Device tokens are removed when the waiting room expires
2.4 Network Information
- Your IP address may be used to determine network type (Wi-Fi vs. cellular) for call quality optimization
2.5 Device Permissions
- Camera and Microphone: Required for video calls. Media streams are transmitted directly between participants (peer-to-peer) and do not pass through our servers
- Screen Sharing: Optional, used only when you choose to share your screen
2.6 Local Storage
- Session token (for Pro users) stored in your browser's localStorage
- User preferences (language, blur settings) stored locally on your device
3. What We Do NOT Collect
- Email addresses
- IP addresses (not logged or stored)
- Call recordings or conversation content
- Chat message content
- File transfer content
- Room names or passwords in plain text
4. How We Use Your Data
- Authenticate Pro users and manage subscriptions
- Route signaling messages to establish peer-to-peer connections
- Deliver push notifications (if enabled)
- Optimize call quality based on network conditions
5. Data Security
All video and audio calls use WebRTC with DTLS-SRTP encryption. Media streams are transmitted directly between participants and never pass through our servers. The TURN server is used only when direct connections are not possible and does not record or inspect call content.
7. Your Rights
- Delete your account through the App's Settings page or by contacting us
- Access your data by contacting us at support@chikad.chat
- Disable push notifications through your iOS device settings
8. Children's Privacy
ChikaD is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
